I'm headed to an art symposium I go to every year, called the Yuma Art Symposium, about 3 hours southwest of the hi-desert. It's smaller and more substantial artistically than burningman, and much less expensive.

For $125, you get 3 days of presentations, demonstrations, comraderie, campfires and a big barbeque dinner (included!) on Saturday night. It's even cheaper if you have any kind of student ID ($75), and you can camp for free in a designated area if you want to save money on lodging. :)

Here's the link to check out this year's presenters, they are always world-class professionals, in media ranging from jewelry making and sculpture, to painting, photography and environmental art.

If you want to carpool or caravan, contact me :)

Also, there is a cute tradition they have of making any sort of pin or brooch (or anything else you wish to make to gift / trade) and trade these with others on Thursday afternoon, at the official start of the event.

Hope to see you there!
